WE TOOK THE WHOLE WEEZER AUDIENCE ON A ROAD TRIP
For Weezer’s 2023 tour, we wanted to bring the thematic of a Road Trip to the stage in a bigger better way that no one saw coming. Creating a on stage car dashboard, wheel and rear-view mirror included, we drove through classic scenes around America and close to Weezer’s history and catalogue. I worked on the creative direction, conceptual thinking, and narrative arc for stage experience.
THE CONCEPT
The band performs in a theatrical representation of a giant car. Behind them is large windshield that acts displays our video content of dreamscape animation sequences that flow with lighting design and practical props. It all choreographs together to match the dynamics of each song. Production Design, immersive animation and lighting all come to together as we play on scale, perspective and dimension as Weezer performs.
We’re taking the audience on a sometimes playful, sometimes emotional, sometimes dark and in the end uplifiting journey. We’ll end this epic indie road show with a huge celebration making the statement that we’re all here to rock the fuck out and celebrate the strange quirks that make up the world we live in.
